We are very excited to have started the building phase of the Gathering Space for the Phillipstown Hub! We had an enjoyable and successful community engagement phase, where we got to know the Phillipstown Hub community and got an idea of the themes that the community wanted for the space. We then engaged in a productive co-designing phase, where a Working Group of community representatives worked with our designer Jonathan Hall (and others of the GtR team) to develop a design that was best suited to the space and the wishes of the community.
That brought us into the procurement and building stage, and we could not have done this without big hearted people and generous sponsors such as Rod from Aistrope Engineers, the Pump House for the timber, Loscam Limited for the pallets Hire KING for the fencing, Briford for our trailer and Daveron for the scaffolding. And of course our funders: Christchurch City Council and Rata foundation. And a special mention: thanks to Officer Spike for outstanding services to the project! And of course the amazing Viviana from the Phillipstown Hub.
So with the fencing in place, the containers in position and the scaffolding up, we are now we getting volunteers lined up, so we can build this together with the community.
We are pumped!
